(5) First Class Inspector of Depots, house allowance, This item makes provision for house-rent for the officer whose appointment was recommended in Governor's despatch No.265 of 1901.
On the 18th June 1901 the Sanitary Board recommended the Government to offer a bonus of 20 cents for every successful vaccination by a recognised Chinese vaccinator as recommended by the Medical Officer of Health in his report for 1897. During the current year the expenditure was met out of the Incidental Expenses Vote, It is now placed in the Estimates for 1902.
New Disinfecting Apparatus. In view of the fact that the present disinfecting apparatus is too small to meet the demands of the City it is proposed to remove it to Kowloon and to erect the new apparatus in Caine Lane, The removal will cost $200 and the apparatus $5,000.
3 Equifex Sprays, At present there are only two Equitex sprayers in use and the Sanitary Board report that these are not enough.
Animal Depots, Firewood, Gas, Sundries. These items have been inserted in view of the taking over of the Animal Depots and Slaughter Houses by the Sanitary Board (See Governor's despatch No.285 of 1901.).
